Pitch sheet

This is my actual sheet which my pitch is on, containing every single detail about my plan for my magazine.

Pitch for music magazine

Today we completed our pitch for our magazine, we had a sheet which we wrote down all our ideas for each little detail of the magazine, i.e. house style, audience profile, images, dps, inducements, our usp, and weekly or monthly price. We researched on the internet prices of magazines of the genre we'd chosen, what sort of elements the magazines included and who the audience is. To figure out things like the house style, fonts and how we are going to have our titles etc, we opened up photoshop and played around. This was my first trial of my title, but i came to the conclusion that not everyone may understand what it stands for.
So i altered it to a more simple design but which i think worked better. It also benefited me because my final title goes with my house style alot better.

Preliminary final task: front cover and contents

This is my final front cover and contents page for my preliminary task. During the process i have made some changes to the contents page, as i didnt use four pictures along the bottom, only three. This was because i couldnt fit four at the size i wanted and at the angles i wanted. I thought i had finished but was advised to make some tweeks here and there so that i could make it look even better. I used stroke, bevel and emboss on my 'st marks school' and 'excellence, inspiration and commitment' to make the text stand out even more, and used stroke on my image, and star shape and logo to make them all blend together. I also used stroke on the numbers on my contents page, and stroke, bevel and emboss on the title 'contents' so that the house style for the front cover and contents page are very similar in style.

Photoshop tutorial

In today's lesson we had a tutorial of how to use photoshop, going through each specific buttons an learning what they do. I benefited from this as I have never used photoshop before an learnt that you basically work by layers. Iv posted a picture of something I created whilst I practiced using the software. I used the magnetic tool to cut out Emily from the original background, an brought up a new background of the Eiffel Tower. I then clicked ctrl+a and ctrl+c on emilys picture and ctrl+v on the Eiffel Tower background to paste Emily onto it. Then used buttons to make Emily smaller an moved her to the position I wanted.

Evaluation of photo's

I'm using all the photo's in my previous post apart from one. Some of my shots could have been better for example the English lit photo should have the plastic wallet taken off as it reflects the light, making it hard to read. I could have taken the geography shot better, by positioning the whole rectangle of the wall board in the photo, instead of cutting off corners. Also with the photo of the chemistry book I could of placed it somewhere with less light shining on it so that the writing on it was more visible. Finally on my two shot, I could of asked the male model to be more smartly dressed (tuck his top in, top button done up) to contribute to the mise-en-scène.

Photo's for school mag

These are the photo's I collected for my school magazine. Some adjustments I made were I only used a science book an pen instead of test tubes. I used a sheet of 'what us expected in eng lit' along with birdsong instead of letters. I couldn't find a globe so I just took a picture of a map on the wall an used that an finally for the main background on contents page I used a two shot but positioned it not in the centre but models to the right infront of the sociology board and blank white wall on the left where the text will go.

School mag draft

In today's lesson we started our draft for our preliminary task which Is a school magazines front cover and contents. We had to make sure we use a medium shot picture and iv already started making tweeks on the contents page so that the background picture is taken against a white wall an ls positioned to the left instead of the centre so the text is on the right so that the text is still visible.
